Hi folks! Today, I want to address something I've been thinking deeply about. I've written out my thoughts, and as it's too much to fit in one caption, Iโll share sections of it in separate posts over time.
I don't think it's helpful to name and blame - it's far more beneficial to support and encourage, so I hope that's how this message comes across despite the severity of the topic.

Iโve learned so much about world issues, particularly those of race, over this past year. It's been hard to miss. Repeatedly, we've seen the realities of police brutality targeting black people (in America - but which is telling of the world-wide issue).
It baffles me that there are police shooting people at all, especially when the victim's offense was so minor - at what point did an expired registration tag equate to a death sentence? But the fact it seems so much more readily executed when a black or Asian person is in question, shows that an undercurrent of racism still exists everywhere, even (and especially) in places of authority.
These issues have been there for centuries - but through social media, and the influx of people active on it throughout the pandemic, it seems like it's suddenly come about โ because finally, the voices of those who have experienced it for years are being heard.
And now that more people are listening, it's a question of what we can do that will make a difference.
It's been brought to our attention, and it needs action. The action of white people, specifically, because it is down to us to fix the skewed perspective and corruption our race has demonstrated throughout history.
So what can we do? Here are 10 things.
