Well, it was actually yesterday, but the first ever photo I shared - of the book Jane Eyre - was no doubt posted late at night on the 11th, so it still counts😂 Rather poetically, it was another Jane - my wise and wonderful friend @jannath.fazli - who reminded me! See, this is why I need you folks around😆

Two years ago, when I was inspired to start this account, I couldn't have predicted how much of a magical impact it would have.
That sounds dramatic, but I was thinking this morning how much Bookstagram has shaped my life over the past year. (I say year, because I didn't properly *get into* posting until last October.)
Thanks to this community, I:
•started writing a book
•began a writing blog
•set up a Society for creators & dreamers
•got my first art commission [thanks Nay!!]
•became *an audiobook narrator* (my first proper paid job!) [Lina, literally where was I before I knew you]
•got to develop my creativity [thank you Kaby, Alysha and Beatriz for the impact our regular calls have had on that]
•discovered new story-worlds & creators
I think we'll agree that this community is something special. All of you are thoughtful, generous, talented and inspiring. I love that we can share snippets from our worlds, embrace our creativity, and be ourselves here. We 'get' each other. Often, after spending time interacting with you all, I forget how different much of the "real world" is - then I'm reminded when I have to return to it😂
Being part of this community has been so enriching, opening up a whole new dimension to my life. I never imagined that I'd find such a hub of like-minded people - who care deeply, think carefully, and uplift others unconditionally.
I can't imagine my life without the friends I've made here - those I chat to in DMs (with your patience, waiting for my sporadic replies😜), exchange memes, laugh and fangirl with, those I check in with, and those who are soul-sisters whom I know I'll keep for life. I am so honoured to call you friends❤️
