New ‘All Creatures’ Evokes Old Series Without Imitating It

![๐ณLast week, I was wandering past rows of bookshelves in a tent at a history festival. As if it knew I had a Waterstones voucher to spend, the gold writing on the front of this book glinted at me as I passed. So I bought it, then stepped out into the afternoon sunshine and read its introduction.
It spoke of fairytales and the wonder of folklore; of messages passed down generations and remembered over centuries. This resonated with me, with its emphasis on the importance of stories - something I like to weave into my creative projects and this account.
I also had the pleasure of seeing a folk band called The Trials of Cato perform. They kindly signed a CD for us, and I got a t-shirt of the album cover. To me, in some way, that's a story in itself - the sharing of music, an interaction, and a moment in time.
I've been listening to their album 'Hide and Hair' a lot over the past week, and it transports me to a place of telling stories round a fire and dancing to folk music, surrounded by friends and good food.
This was pretty much the atmosphere of the festival - so along with the fairytale book, the historical recreations, and an excellent apple & cinnamon crรชpe I had, the music made the day extra special.
As the album has a storytelling focus and folklore themes, I thought it tied in nicely with this post (and as a bonus, the cover colours match so well with the book!)
I've added some of their songs to the playlist for my story - in particular, the beautiful melody of 'Libanus' made me think of my character Finn, and I now consider it his "theme" (is that weird?๐). In this way, I love how creations can inspire more creativity in others, like a domino effect where the dominoes are lifted up by each other, rather than knocked down.
All stories are rising dominoes; pathways leading from tales that were whispered at the dawn of human consciousness. Like fairytales before us, our own stories spin new domino trails for those who follow after.
