The wonderfully creative @ilziliana has gathered a The wonderfully creative @ilziliana has gathered a group of us to post an 'Earth Dance' to a song of our choice. I picked today to share mine, so here's some improvised dancing to 'Mother Earth' by Within Temptation.

This song opens one of my favourite albums, which I listened to over and over when I was younger, imagining an enchanted world of fairies and magical creatures.

I've always loved how the song's structure (along with its original music video) shows nature's two sides. First, the calm and tranquil peace - quiet seas, unmoving trees, budding flowers, gentle sunlight, little lambs and clear skies; the patient Elf spirit encouraging life. Then comes the lightning-strike, the howling wind, torn earth, pelting rain, diseased animals and storm clouds; the wrathful Fury spirit hailing death.

Which calls most to you? Perhaps it depends on the day - both always in balance.

So, enjoy this Monday frolic featuring my noodle arms, old dresses, and a glimpse of evening sunlight through the trees🌞

Still, there is magic in all the things we have yet to do - in both the journeys and the views at the end of them.

I've heard time passes more slowly for smaller creatures... That sounds like something from mythology, don't you think?

Here's a scene for writers and creators needing a push out of procrastination!😄

A bit of a different post today, but I recently watched a film called 'As I Am', and while I wasn't so fussed about the rest of it, this scene stood out as inspiring. I thought I'd share it in case anyone is in need of the motivation!

In this scene, the main character - a talented writer - is upset about a relationship while sitting his English literature exam. Noticing that he isn't writing anything, the teacher talks him round to pushing past that and not failing the subject he wants to do most because of something in the present moment.

🎥 Movie: 'As I Am' (2019). Actors in this scene: Harry Lloyd as the teacher, Joshua Glenister as Kai.

What's a random thing you've done to procrastinate?
Sometimes I end up researching or note-taking to procrastinate actually writing, but once I get into a scene I struggle to stop! The only way I can get myself to tidy my room, on the other hand, is if I'm procrastinating something else😂

What helps you overcome whatever is distracting you from a project?☕

The Ghost of Gallow Hill🌲...

They say his ghost can be glimpsed during the third weekend in June, on the hill where the blackthorn tree sways, and the old mansion watches over the land...

At the local fair every June, an actor plays the part of the 19th-century legend, performing as him at the circus. Only, this year, he seems a little *too* good at the role.

“Welcome!” He tossed his cane ten feet in the air, spun elegantly, then caught it in one hand. “To a world where reality and myth become one.” Another applause echoed, and his smirk glinted from the shadows.

Welcome to 35 Portland Row, where the independent Welcome to 35 Portland Row, where the independent ghost-hunting agency Lockwood & Co. live☕📚

It's a cosy place that feels like home to me, so I wanted to film a collection of aesthetics that remind me of it. Keep an eye out for the spirit ward mask, the iron chains, and of course... the skull in the jar💀✨

(Set to the song 'All We Ever Wanted Was Everything' by Bauhaus, which was used in the TV show and fits the vibe perfectly I think. It already feels nostalgic to me!)

For Lockwood & Co. fans needing some cosiness, or For Lockwood & Co. fans needing some cosiness, or anyone who'd like to sit with me as I read from the books, I'll be doing a livestream on here today (Sunday) at 8pm UK time.📚

We can imagine we're at 35 Portland Row, all cosy in the library room, sipping tea and eating biscuits or doughnuts (or toast, boiled eggs, whatever takes your fancy!). I won't be talking much about the cancellation of the show, but rather focusing on the cosy atmosphere and celebrating the world the story is set in✨

I'll be keeping it as spoiler-free as possible in case some haven't read the books yet. If anyone has any requests for particular moments from the books you'd like me to read out, feel free to mention them in the comments!

Even if you haven't seen or read Lockwood & Co., you're welcome to come along for a cosy evening☕

It'll probably be about an hour💕 See some of you there!

Is there a project or activity that you long to be Is there a project or activity that you long to begin, but it always ends up pushed to the back of priorities?

I love painting, but I rarely find the time to do it. As the oil tubes and blank canvases sit in my art cupboard, I long to use them, and dream up what I'll paint next. I'd like to make the effort to do that more often, and create room for the hobby where I don't enough.

Is there a hobby or event that is like this for you? Let's make it happen!🤩

(P.S. The book in this picture is The Spiderwick Field Guide which I keep on my desk as constant inspiration! The art is by Tony Diterlizzi✨)

2)☀️ Pride & Prejudice (2005) - of course. The golden-hour aesthetics, music and perfect balance of comedy and heart make this a comfort movie for me.

3)🌳 Jane Eyre (2006) - This mini-series version really captures the characters from the book. Each scene with Jane and Rochester is a meeting of their minds as well as their hearts, which is how Charlotte wrote it.

4)🎩 North & South (2004) - A mini-series about class and industry, but this doesn't overshadow the main story at the heart of it, beautifully acted and paced.

5)🏰 Northanger Abbey (2007) - This one is so sweet! Along with the gothic vibes and references to literature, the main couple have a light-hearted, genuine connection which is delightful to watch.

6)📚 Becoming Jane (2007) - Be warned that this is loosely based on a chapter of Austen's life, so it's not the classic-happy-ending of your typical period-drama, but it's absolutely gorgeous. Bookish aesthetics, a stunning soundtrack, and the perfect balance of James McAvoy's wit as Tom alongside Anne Hathaway's cleverness as Jane.

7)⛱️ Sanditon (2019) - We almost didn't get a season 2 & 3 of this show, so be warned that the start of season 2 makes quite a change from season 1! Strangely though, I'm glad about it, and the couple I enjoyed most from this season was the main character's sister and one of the captains.

Have you watched any of these? Which is your favourite!☕

(And if not, which sounds most interesting to you?)
Are you studying too? Here's some energy and luck Are you studying too? Here's some energy and luck for those in exam season✨✍️

As I write my literature essays, I imagine I'm sitting by an ornate library window, sunlight streaming in across the page.
There's an ancient clock tower outside, where a society once gathered to discuss intellectual ideas with hushed fervour. The books remember those times, and the collected words echo throughout their pages...

In truth, I'm curled on the sofa with my laptop listening to Chopin while writing about Mary Shelley's fusion of hope and despair - but perhaps the romanticism is in the attempt?

What are you working on at the moment? Whether it's essays, revision or day-to-day work, I'm cheering you on!✍️
